"Turmeric contains curcumin, an antioxidant that some studies show helps reduce the risk of heart failure and inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Curcumin can also help reduce the formation of gallstones. When turmeric is combined with other spices, as in curry powder, the effect is even stronger as the different spices enhance each others effects."
So it seems
Spices really do spice up your life in more than one way.
Thanks Shayna. I use spices in most of my cooking and a few of my favs are Cinnamon, Cumin, Turmeric, Garlic,...oh gosh I don't think there are many that I dislike.
I know what you mean Lynda. I love good wholesome and basic foods cooked with love and carrying those exotic flavours that herbs and spices can impart of the flavour. We all need to go back to basics this is very evident indeed.
I love cooking with spices but my stomach do not !! Try to stick to herbs, but I do so crave a nice curry, not too hot, now and again. Suffer the consequences tomorrow. *smile*
A beautiful photo indeed.
