Creative Challenge ~148~ Veil Or Curtain

Creative Challenge 148

Veil...Curtain

Shrouded in the darkness of night

The river was eerily calm

A veil of fine mist surrounded the boat

As the soft blue glow

From the hallway night light

Gave me a sense of serenity and calm

This was not to last

Because

Soon the wind howled

The little boat rocked back and forth

And the driving rain pelted down all around

As natures force played havoc

Leaving me with no option other than

To draw the curtains and

Retreat under the warmth of my cosy bedclothes

For the remainder of this fierce and

Inclement night

Then in the bright light of a brand new day

I would awake, give thanks

And

Celebrate

A new day upon the now fast flowing

Murray River.

  1. Yes, we do shut out that which we cannot abide, whether it be high weather or unpleasant situations. Beautifully written. It's good to see you here, Milli.

  3. This evoked images of Samuel Clemens. So very well done ... I expected Tom Sawyer to be waiting on deck with a hot cup of coffee for you.
This week I decided on a a tribute to the month of April

    With mooring holding fast
Banks full wet and holding well
    The Murray breaks its fast.

  7. Such imagery. One does tend to shut out the things we cannot handle. Loved reading it and very well written. :)
