This being the second week of competition mode I decided to do a special photo for the challenge.
Many years ago a friend of mine worked in a remote part of the Australian out back, called Balgo Hills. When she called back home she brought presents from the area which is home to the local indigenous people and my present was a unique Seed Necklace made from Twisted Human Hair and collected local seeds.
I hope that you enjoy my Tribal Take on The Twisted Theme.
NB: Necklaces are traditionally worn by both men and women in rituals and ceremonies focusing on sexuality and fecundity. The string or hair that the necklace is made from is of equal importance because it symbolises the relatedness of a people and families in particular. When the necklace is worn it represents part of the land and connects the wearer to the land.

Very nice necklace. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis is an incredible shot! Twisted human hair, that seems a bit twisted in itself, wonderful wonderful.. Very nice tribal take on the theme..

cool Millie
ReplyDeleteWhen I was roadtraining, I used to go to the remote Aboriginal missions, and several women tried to give me these necklaces....
ReplyDeleteBeing a symbol of impending marriage, so I got told......
Naturally, I had to refuse such a gift......phew!!!
LOL Phew for you Peter. I wrote a small NB at the bottom of the photo.
ReplyDeleteyes...I read that.....which is why I related my tale to you.....
ReplyDeletevery nice and so is the tradition that goes with the necklace.
ReplyDeleteA Beautiful shot as always Milli
ReplyDeleteThanks for relating the story and I am sure that you can write a book about your travels in the outback. did you ever go to Balgo over the border in Western Australia?
ReplyDeleteAn amazing shot!
ReplyDeleteRope
yes...several times...I went to most missions in South Australia, Northern Territories, and Western Australia...but only in dry weather....roads have a habit of turning into mud during the rains......
ReplyDeleteSo interesting...you are a lucky man Peter through all that travelling and experience.
ReplyDeleteLucky??
ReplyDeleteto have bounced my way over country where grown men fear to go??
to have been dumb enough to go back time after time??
to have damaged my back?
to have killed half my internal organs??
Oh yair...I'm a lucky bloke, alright...
Lmao........
Milli a splendid macro shot and very artistic in composition..excellent entry
ReplyDeleteI was curious waiting to see what twisted item you had found - you never know with you - always a surprise! The only thought I had was that it would be, for sure, very feminine and it was- so on that part I was right. I enjoyed reading your words on your choice of subject and impressed with your neat photo. As for the rtwisted twine very twisted and in its own way interesting to look at. Great choice I reckon. Still not able to enter PP just no time for comments which is a shame.
