The Mermaid
As I was catapulted onto the seabed floor
Waves crashing above me
It was then I saw her
She sat motionless
Watching
I was tossed around in the turbulence
Like a Rag Doll
In a washing machine
With such fear in my heart
I felt the undertow
It was then that
She whispered to my soul
"Ride it out"
She softly said
"The sky is blue above
Rise to the top and breath in
The fresh salty air"
The waves now broken
In full force
Onto the shoreline
And I am coughing and spluttering
But safe.
Was she a figment of my imagination
Or a Mirage from my altered state
Of consciousness
This!
I will never know.
"I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living."
