Roses of Life
I have dreamed many dreams that never came true,
I have seen them vanish at dawn.
But I have realized enough of my dreams, thank God,
To make me want to dream on.
I have prayed many prayers, when no answers came,
Though, I waited so patient and long,
But answers came to enough of my prayers
To make me keep praying on.
I have trusted many a friend who failed
And left me to walk alone,
But I have found enough of my friends to be true
To make me keep trusting on.
I have sown many seeds that fell by the way
For, the birds to feed upon
But I have held enough golden sheaves in my hands
To make me keep sowing on.
I have drained the cup of disappointment and pain
And gone many days without song,
But I have sipped enough nectar from the roses of life
To make me want to live on.

ReplyDeleteThank You Mia. The roses were picked from my mothers garden. They are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey were profuse on the bush, so she invited me to pick some. Because of the dry season my roses have been poor.

ReplyDeletethe photo is a beauty Milli - poem too. The pink shading on the left looks like it emanates from the blooms - sets it off perfectly! And yes that new photo - nice smile!!!
ReplyDeleteIts really nice to see poetry re- blogged on someone else's site....thankyou......
ReplyDeleteNice poem, straight from someone's heart with the panache and flow that is similar to your own style?
ReplyDeleteOf course only your picture could be thus set, and with the roses in question, a perfect combination.
I do try to be critical, honest.
Such a beautiful poem accompanying your gorgeous photograph!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ray of sunshine you always provide, Milli.
Big Hugs,
Marcia

ReplyDeleteHere it is in case you were interested....
ReplyDeleteThat mountain you gave me Lord,
The one I thought I'd never climb,
It isn't a mountain any longer,
For you were with me all the time,
That gloomy day you gave me Lord,
The one I thought would never end,
The sun was just around the corner,
For I found you were my friend,
The heart you gave me Lord,
The one I thought would surely break,
It mended very easily,
For you healed it for my sake,
The fountains of tears you gave me Lord,
When I found life hard to face,
They've now become a desert,
For you help me find my place,
The years you gave to me Lord,
The good and all the rest,
Put wrinkles on this face of mine,
But you helped me pass the test,
So thank you Lord for the mountains,
And thank you for the years,
Thank you for the cloudy days,
And thank you for the tears,
Thank you for my heart,
For all the good and bad,
But most of all I thank you Lord,
For all the blessings I have had,
S. Wlodarczyk
