This week I wish to thank All My Amazingly wonderful friends who through out Multiply made My Birthday just so, so special.
I was very taken aback by a post dedicated to me by a friend of mine on Yahoo 360 who made a lovely post and dedicated this poem to me because he said it reminded him so much of me.
Special mentions also to Sue and Shankar their posts were Fanbloomintastic.
So for this weeks Poetry Wednesday let me present this splendid poem written by:
William Wordsworth.
"Daffodils" (1804)
I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
- That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
-  A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
- And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
- Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
- Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
- In such a jocund company:
I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
- In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
-  Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
- By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

this is wonderful piece of recognition u share amongst friends, may you stay blessed. thanks for your visit to my page on poetry wednesday, wishing you a good day!
ReplyDeletei am shy and small when a small gesture of mine to wish a friend a happy birthday is aired back in acknowledgement, well that goes to say how much of "daffodils" you perceive while receiving greetings wholeheartedly? stay blessed! thanks for your visit to mine
ReplyDeleteThank you Wishwa and Shankar let me say that the Bouquet in the centre is all your handy work..You are all such Flowers to me..very special.
ReplyDeleteI have always loved that piece. You are the flower that blooms all year.
ReplyDeleteWe were born in Wordsworth country (at an early age) Milli, the English Lakes and Scottish borders, Roman Wall and beautiful Solway Firth were our constant tutors. So, how come we go shopping dressed up as a Neanderthal and people call out, "Crocodile Dundee!?" or, "That will be £1.49 Croco," or, "Hey, can I see your big f**** off knife mate?" Strange, yet how much more strange is another birthday's notch on time's manly shillelagh? Anyway, merry Christmas ol' gal. ;)

ReplyDelete.
Rita We are all flowers just some are more weedy than others LOL but hey whats one mans weed is another mans beautiful flower, however in saying this, I do love the Daffodils too!
Pla dear old boy you have such a unique heritage, such history you have, brilliant history indeed. To have been tutored with such eloquence.
Now you tell me why a joke yes an aussie Joke like Croc Dundee as funny as he be should influence those around you, why LOL he does not influence us down here at all.
One thing we can be sure of as we breath the air and stay on this Beautiful Earth in the form of a living Human Soul, then, we will notch up annual Birthdays. I will wear my ol gal status well thanks Pla and notch up a few more of these before I leave this mortal plane. however it seems you are giving me some extra curriculum lessons by the look of your link LOL. MMMM I think I might have to read some more it seems I have been missing out LOL on the more Sensational or is that tantrific, things in This life.
Thanks for the Wishes they are as Unique as you my friend. Ahh! what a lovely place to have cavorted in those juvenile years.
I came by through Bill. Hope your birthday was special. I love this poem. We had to interpret this poem in Oral Interpretation in High School. It brought a smile--thanks!
ReplyDeleteindeed Milli, thing is that tantra is really useful for gathering energy (otherwise squandered as liken unto
ReplyDeletesteam from a kettle) and then allocating it perhaps usefully within the being or more externally perchance
in perception and transcription of poem of our small lives (and those of our neighbors - including grass)
but, 'a rose is a rose by any other name', so lets call it 'wise energy management' (something pressing us all
globally as we breath) now next time we want to take easy way out we think: ME AM IN TRAINING FOR THE BIG
FIGHT - which brings us neatly to the thorny problemo of government licnce for the control of national libido re:
manufacturing and services productivity!
I've know this poem since middle school, the older I get, the better it is!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites that I had to memorize as a child. Perfection.
ReplyDeleteMay the year that follows this birthday be filled with the same joy you'd have by viewing a thousand swaying yellow heads in the breeze.
These are favorites of mine, flowers and words. I have used daffodils in my short stories on many occasions. I find them helpful observers to the world moving to fast around us. Nice picks! -janeen
