We are now officially in Winter as of June 1st, in this Land Down Below.
Above a meeting with a little puppy " Amber"
Old survey area and this one is an original. A past full of history and built from local stone.
So I thought I would share some photos taken on my afternoon walk last week. Our weather has been perfect with sunny days and pretty much wind free, which is wonderful.
The nights are dewy, cold and crisp and be sure this will all change soon enough to cold winds coming up
across the sea from
Antarctica.
First walk and a wonderful day to meet a new friend. Maybe her name should be Amber.
Another view of The Lane.
Old Pines and Pepper Trees. Can you Smell the different aromas here.
The old dairy above and sometimes when the creek runs over this low lying area this home takes the brunt of the excess waters.
Look closely at its construction? An amazing old home.
Below is another old stone home using very old red bricks as the coining around the frames. Bricks like this often came from passing ships where they were used as Ballast.
Now it was a lovely walk and sunny day
And look who kept watch whilst I was away.
I hope you enjoyed your little excursion with me.
Milli 2008.

Such a wonderful trip miss milli so glad you invited me along. As the weather is holding for you maybe we should sit and have a cuppa in the sun as long as I am here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk! Have Fun, Milli!
ReplyDeleteTwas a dandy stroll taken, enjoyed the sights and smells and a peek at some older history. We should do this again; don't you think?
ReplyDeleteAhhh, Winter sets in like the calm before the storm, ever quiet with just the rustling hint of what is to be. Make us a snowman, and a snow angel when time permits. That way, the one can watch your home when you are away, and the other can watch over you ... Huggers 8=)
I've been wracking my brain as to where these pictures are of... all I can come up with, is in and around the Anguston areas of Adelaide.....a very picturesque place to visit...........
ReplyDeleteWould I be correct??
If not, would you mind telling me where this is??
Oh nice to see the greenery...yes jus the opposite here...summer has started..around 50 C..since anything above 50, the companies are forced to declare holiday...so the official temp will never go above 50...
ReplyDeleteI love taking my camera and Arlo out for walks. I should do it more. I walked an old cemetery the other day. It was so poignant to see a very old gravestone of twin boys with 2 toy cars resting aside the marker.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita I was out in the sunshine today after posting this and now i think we are getting a change..maybe rain? lets See?
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy I have been on walks with you too and they have been lovely.Bill you know a stroll is wonderful however the sights of ice and snow well none of that here. We don't get any down here and even very slightly does it fall up in the hills. So what do we get, well we get rain and sometimes hail, strong winds and cold air and usually unless its a very grey drizzle day we get some sunshine peaking through. So snow angels I have never made.
I am glad that you have enjoyed Raj and wow that's a desert for sure. I will show more photos of the green later for you.
Cheri do take those walks and show us. The cemetery sounds o interesting although very sad. History is always to be found there and you do learn so much about the families who lived near and far.
yes i did walk along with you on all these stroll and remember the sojourn on 28th and particularly 29th of may 2008 @ adelaide sa australia!

What a wonderful walk! I thoroughly enjoyed the light and the beautiful weather. I love the house with the bricks around the window frames. That kitty looks like he/she would sit stone still and watch for hours before anyone would notice. Beautiful little cat.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the photos and the look around your world. I know what you mean by the winds. It gets very windy here in Weed. The reason it became a lumber down - named after Abner Weed, no less - was because of the wind. The winds were such there wasn't any need for a kiln to dry the wood - they just kept them in stacks and the wind would dry it. Eventually, a kiln was built, but much later. How windy does it get, you ask? Windy enough to blow our Pomeranians several yards across the deck ! :-) When our little male Pom was a puppy, and he was learning to pee like a little boy dog, the wind blew him over and that set him back almost a year. :-)
So glad that you came awalking with me Shankar and how amazing about the coincidence of the old dairy?
ReplyDeleteI went to that site Pla mmm interesting indeed although I am sure you take your country walks and enjoy them.
Hi Marcia well weed is windy that's for sure..Dear little babe blown over. Well winds can be treacherous here too right on the coast and even inland and I did a post about a fierce storm that wrecked a ship nearby here but in the 1880s. Many lives were lost. All in all though its a lovely place to be. About my kitty well she is quite old these days even if she does not look like it over ten and actually so gregarious that she meets and greats the strangers walking past. Not even frightened of dogs she is aloof and just does her own thing. She does have a tendency though to scratch out at children who taunt her..that's in a warning style and they soon get the idea to Watch out for the cat.
