  1. "old is gold" may remain only in proverb then, and become "meaningless words"?

  2. You have put, in very nice words, the reality in Australia that also applies to many other countries. Have a great week.

  4. I am sure it will however the photo and the writing above shows symbols from Australia of what we called our industries, in the 1950s. Given 100 years hence and I wonder how many of these will even be mentioned in the future fast approaching.
True to say this is a world wide trend. I have just chosen local icons.

  5. That was very clever, Perhaps they might become meaningless with the years.Being english and living at the time in the 50's when many english could emmigrate to down under for five english pounds each, Australian is not so strange and far away for me. I knew many that went. Do Holden cars still exist? or have they been completely taken over by the road trains.

  6. We make holden cars here actually there is a plant in my state. They are still popular and we do send some of our cars to the USA and to UAR. However the petrol guzzlers that are made will need to take a drastic turn soon because we just can't afford to fill them up. The blue ute in the photo above is very collectible and Holden's actually are the family cars here for many and the older ones are still very sought after. I think though that by the time 2050 comes along we will all be using some other type of transport and if it is badged as Holden

  9. My knowledge of Cars is the same as a Crow's knowledge of Music. But in the rising fuel price scenario, a gas guzzler is going to become a symbol of Status.

  13. A funny thing has happened here in that because I have used only very local commodities and my photo is historic probably only to Australians an Kiwi's and maybe some others who know a bit about the history here in this country then my words truly can be said to be meaningless words. How amazing.
I will point out a few more facts from the photo above. The car made by the General Motors Holden Company.http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/jsp/corporateinfo/history/history.jsp?link=historical
The petrol bowser and petrol pump carry the name Golden Fleece.http://home.austarnet.com.au/jamieson/goldenfleece.html
Australia of old was said to be " riding off the sheep's back" . http://www.bond.edu.au/about/australia/history.html
Now it may well be mining that takes the sheep's place.
