Poetry Wednesday: Windows View

Windows View

What is the view from your window?

Is it the sea or the rolling hills?

Or is it the new office buildings

That you see from your own windowsills

Maybe your window faces a playground

Where families all day come and go

Or you might see mountains in the distance around

White capped, when covered in snow

The view from an apartments high tower

Might be the best view that you get

Whatever the view through the daytime hour

Breathtaking viewed through the colours of sunrise, and sunset.

A view of a beautiful garden, of roses and green grassy tones

Think of your view ever changing, as another season dawns anew

Group plantings of perennials and annuals, neatly bordered with stones

Bringing to the view from your window, shades of different colour and hue

Or your view might be a small terrace, light and as neat as a pin

There might be a sundeck full of flowerpots, table, umbrella and all

And hanging from poles is a hammock, to sit or lounge about in

Concrete jungle, your view might even be, a brick wall or a tree strong and tall

Remember to take a special view from your favourite window seat

On a cold and wet wintry day sit there and read your favourite book

In the early freshness stand by the sunny window, as morning you greet

Watching all of the movements outside, while breakfast starts to cook

Today as I clean my window and think of the views I have seen

I think of many windows, small, long, narrow, large and wide

Thinking of old ornate windows, church windows and their memories, in between

While I invite you to look out from your window, to the view that awaits you outside.

I took the photos Sunday night from my son and daughter in laws farm. My view was of the Full Moon coming up over the hills in the distance. The farm with their Horses and Black dog are in the foreground. A beautiful sight indeed.

Regards from Milli

The other view to the west, was the sun setting .

I found a lovely little tune to go with this theme and I hope that you enjoy it.

  1. The quality of the photo of the horses is not perfect because I had to lighten it up for better viewing. Obviously the camera is not that great in darkness, however I think you will get the idea.

  5. Hi Milli,
What a beautiful poem! I think we all take our views for granted most of the time. Where we live, in northern California, we have the most incredible view of 14,162 foot Mt. Shasta some 8 miles away. It was one of the many reasons we chose to buy this house - and eventually, the lot next door. (Check out my Mt. Shasta photos in my photo albums.) I know I do enjoy looking at my dogs lined up on the top of the sofa looking out the window and the goings on. The view out our master bedroom window is of 10,000 ft. Mount Eddy and the mountain chair called The Eddies. From the family room and kitchen, there is a small stand of pine trees off our upper deck to look at. There are views of the mountains on all four sides of our house. Sometimes we don't stop to look though. What a wonderful reminder. :-)

particularly after my morning meditation, yes wholesome?

but beyond that the photograph of the black beauty beneath reminds me of my first prose by collins publication "Black Beauty to Read Aloud"

  18. Bill I understand you and to be honest I almost made that my theme. The window to the soul of the Earth on Earth Day. Let us celebrate our special Earth and the views it gives us mortals every single moment, through the window or into the window of our own unique being.

  19. Good job, my Milli, very lovely mood inspired by your words, photos and audio.
I enjoyed your poem very much and I agree with Bill; I had the same interpretation of the window looking into the soul and thatour perceptions of what we see from our view very much form our reality.
    Thanks and big hugs.
