The Surprise Party
April the eighth was the big event
Mother’s Eightieth and time well spent
First it was lunch out with the gals
Some are family and some are pals
Fish n chips was the choice by some
Fish n chips a favourite, of my mum
Then off for a small drive around our town
Mother was enjoying, not even one frown
I dropped her off home, she wanted it that way
By now afternoon, so home she would stay
Taking some rest until there was a door knock
You see guests, would arrive at six o’clock
This was a Surprise Eigthieth Birthday Party she knew not where
Until a knock on the door that startles her as she calls " Who's there?"
It was my sister followed then by me, with presents, cake, nibbles and drinks
Heavens knows now, what she thinks
Because pretty soon there’s more and more
All these guests walking through the door
Mum had no idea that she was a special guest
Because to her home, there came family and friends, at my request
We had tea and coffee, snacks and cake
And I bought a Black Forrest Cake; I had no time to bake
Not wanting a big fuss, she was delighted when I said
“ Mum! You don’t want to go out, so I invited friends instead”
It was just a little in-joke between her and I
Because my mother had seen, so many years pass by
Ages since we gathered, in Mum’s home for a Special Event
Birthday songs, enjoyment and good time spent
Well Wishes done, washed up dishes, time had come for all to run
Mum announced to me “ I have had soooo! much fun!”
“The last time I had such a lovely party with such a good mix
Was when I was just a little girl, and I was turning six ”
Mum also enjoyed her Special Birthday with pressies, cards and fishnchips
And I think what she enjoys most of all, are family and her friendships.
Blessings to You, My Dear Mum, Nancy
Next year at 81, you can tell me what, You Fancy!

Awwwwww look at her
ReplyDeletesomeones lovely wife
I must concur
still enjoying a lovely life.
So that was her birthday
a treatt to be sharing
some cake on a tray
and music to be hearing
she opened the presents
thinking of the past
of all her replents
memories going quite fast
A pleasant day had by all
a day filled with glee
today she had a ball
and it was all labour free
So now she is tired
and needs her granny rest
while the youn'uns are all wired
lay your head where it feels best
Have a good sleep mum,
youve earned that right
every time ya whacked me bum
made you tired at night......

thought ya mum might like that liddl ditty..................
