Make a Yellow Paper
Butterfly for your desk
On April the 28Th in Memory
Of those who have suffered
From Global Atrocities and for those who continue to suffer even now.

I have a request by another Blogging friend of mine to spread this word around and I am obliging here early, so that we can all make a start for making our own yellow butterflies.

This is the poem that made him think deeply about this project and I repeat it here for you to read.

"The butterfly"

.............

the last,

the very last

so richly brightly

dazzlingly yellow

perhaps if the suns tears would sing

against a white stone

Such,

such a yellow,

is carried lightly

way up high

it went away

I'm sure its because it wished to

kiss the world good-bye.

For seven weeks

I've lived here

penned up inside this ghetto

But I have found what I love here

the dandelions call to me

and the white chestnut branches in the court

only.......

I never saw another butterfly.

That butterfly was the last one

butterflies don't live in here

in the ghetto.

Now having read this poem, I got hooked on it, and it made me wonder....we have various ways of remembering other bits of history, and I would like to ask you all to spread the word, and make Monday 28th April, the first of an annual event, in remembering these little recognised brave people, who stood up to their tormentors.....

Please, could you make a yellow paper butterfly, and just sit it on your desk, pin it to a notice board, or something?

And could you please spread the word on this, as I feel its an important issue........

The size doesn't matter, but it has to be made of yellow paper.
