I have posted a small slide show here of some of the photos I took while visiting Phillip Island in Victoria recently. As one drives from the Airport onto the freeway to Melbourne the sight of a bill board greets you and on it is the invitation to view the tiny little Fairy Penguins on Phillip Island. Unfortunately the weather was not congenial to view these dear little creatures whilst I was there, however I have seen them up close and personal on Kangaroo Island and on Granite Island here in South Australia. The Nobbies was a wonderful nature walk and you can view Different Gulls breeding on the hillsides or see Seals and the little Fairy Penguins from the Observatory Centre.
My hi light was walking along the beach on the Island that is called Surf Beach at sundown. It is here that the Mutton Birds return in huge flocks to feed their chicks which are hidden from view in the undergrowth up on the high cliff tops. The orange glow of the setting sun heralded the sight of this amazing phenomena and as I stood there listening to the chicks crying out to their parents as they swooped in from the sea with food intact for feeding these hungry waiting chicks.
"They then stay with their chicks throughout the night."
I felt
I was viewing Nature at its Best.

If you click to go to My space in the slide itself and then when the page opens look to the right side of the screen and click full screen view and then you will see these photos as a whole screen show, which is much better veiwing.
