Dear Diary Day Six.
Today is History and Tomorrow is a Mystery. Rita tells grand tales in her post today of historical fact and the paranormal.
While I contemplate the deeper thoughts on life here right now, like what she has me doing tomorrow Sheesh!! I am horse riding!!!
I had NickO giving tips and instructions on Horse riding and I am not too sure if he speaks from experience or not.
However my horse riding experience is very limited indeed! There are horses back home in the family so to speak, like Jake the ex trotter belonging to my son and Rose the Australian quarter horse belonging to my daughter in law and then there is Kaylie the beautiful thoroughbred who is agisted at the moment as her owner a future daughter in law and another son travel up north of Australia. I will tell that story on another post.
Horse riding may well be all around me at home, but the thought of me riding on Rita's journey is another matter entirely.
This evening was spent with Rita and NickO horsing around. I have given everyone a puzzle to do so as not to be too bored as I take horse riding instructions here. The photo above courtesy of Google Images, is a poster and a puzzle. Can you find 14 horses in the picture? Enlarge it and have a look how many you can see in this wonderful poster?
As a girl I can still remember the Roy Rogers show with Roy and his partner a Texan lady by the name of Dale Evans. NickO thought I could learn a thing or two from Trigger, Roy's beautiful palomino horse. I agreed that watching Roy Rogers reruns was a good idea and I have a couple to share with you below. As you can see Roy and Trigger make it all look so easy and maybe these little videos will give me the confidence to ride Happy Trails tomorrow. If not maybe there will be a mule cart or something unexpected for me to try out. We will wait and see.
Happy Trails to you until we meet again pardner.

Dear Diary Day Seven
After a six-hour long trip with the obligatory ‘Butt Breaks’ see Rita’s post for the explanation there, we arrived in the Town of Marathon Texas.
Once again Rita knew exactly what I would enjoy in her choice of accommodation in this rural Texan Town. I find my self in the Town of Marathon Texas and what a Magnificent Day Seven it has turned out to be..
The Old Carriage house is comfy although rustic around the edges and I feel like I am in one of those movies from the times when the western movies and TV series were at their peak in popularity.
I do love to sit outside the house under the shelter of the veranda in a Good ‘Ol” Rockin chair. This is where one just sits and watches the world pass by from the shelter of the veranda.
Night or day times with a drink in hand, like cool home made lemonade, and the company of good friends sitting by and Rockin along with you. All this time you natter about the day you shared and the weather.
Or maybe you just enjoy sitting there rocking alone... to and fro.... Ah! was life meant to be so simple? Yesss!! At times like this it is.
~~~.
Day 8 arrives and Rita says she had to yank me outta bed this morning. Yesss!! Two reasons for that. One was because NickO kept us up half the night playing cowboy poker and Two because I got up at the crack of dawn to watch the sunrise from the Good Ol’ Rockin chair!! Yep on the veranda out the front of the homestead. Maybe you call it the front porch?
The sunrise found me sitting and Rockin in the Ol Rockin Chair, in.the still coolish and clear air. Birds were chirping as I watched the big, bold, beautiful sun, rising up from the landscape in front of my sleepy eyes. The quietness of the moment being broken only by the sound of a nearby rooster crowing and the gentle mooing of long horn cattle in the nearby paddocks.
It was just me sitting alone until I had a visit from the inquisitive farm cat. He curiously wove his body around my legs in a friendly get to know you type of manner. A couple of pats and he lept up to snuggle on my lap. Ah! This was early morning Country style and something I loved.
The whole time the others were sound asleep. But how does NickO’s wife manage to sleep, I think he reached a new dimension in snoring decibels!!!!!
I went back to bed for a short nap and that was a big mistake because the well being I now felt lulled me into a deep sleep in no time at all and that’s when I heard Rita Calling me “ Milli!! Milli!!! Wake up we have an exciting day ahead and we need an early start” I pulled myself up and out. Yep!! The day was exactly as she had said ‘EXCITING and a MARATHON.’
In the town and surrounding areas around Marathon.
See Rita’s post on how this town got its amazing name. I leave you with more to come from Day Eight and if you click on this link here you will see some beautiful photos taken around Marathon and featured on the site of the local museum. Do enjoy!!!
Good Day
Dear Diary Days through Eight to Nine
Never forget the sunscreen or the big hat when out riding in the desert that’s my motto and even so I still took some sun on my fair Aussie winter skin.
In Texas Aloe Vera is a cash crop for some farmers. So this being a home of the Aloe Vera plant it was easy to find a plant in a pot to use.
I will squeeze the gel out and spread it all over my skin, nothing better and I do this at home on my skin for scalds and sunburn actually any irritation that would be benefited by this sticky soothing natural gel. A good site to read more is here ALOE VERA.
Riding horses uses muscles you never ever knew you had and I now have a bow legged type of walk. LOL
Rita fixes me up fairly quickly with a muscle rub called Ben Gay. Funny name I thought, but I applied the menthol smelling cream and it did seem to help.
All clean and gelled and creamed and time for some grub. Good grub it was a cook out and lots of delicious food to try. I enjoyed my salads and my cooked meats and followed that with a good piece of lemon pie. Rita gave the cook her recipe and yummy, yummy, it’s the best lemon pie anyone could try.
After all the chit chat and rocking again on the ‘Ol Rockin chairs we watched the sun set over the Texan landscape and being too tired for much else we all settled back to watch the Video of Rita and Myself dancing at the Disco. Please take a look for yourself from the link below but be patient because it takes some time to load.
IT IS WORTH THE WAIT…
Day Nine and it is off to do some white water rafting. To understand this recreational activity I recommend you see Cris’s Blog .
Heart racing action is this, as you swirl and twirl and you can very easily be tossed into the white waters below..
Wise words from Cris here : If you get swept away, just remember go down the river feet first. Save the noggin!
I have arrived back all in one piece and need to be packing for the trip back.
We will have a party and I will tell you about that in the next day. I want all my friends to get into Texas mode and wear their cowgirl/boy hats on their avatars. Because on August the 23rd we have a special party to share with one of our friends here on 360.
As I ride into the Sunset singing “Happy Trails to You until we meet again.”
I will leave some quotes that just might find a resonance with you in their meaning and the realisation that before we can become that which we wish to be or achieve we must allow ourselves, to dream the dream and talk the talk and then walk the walk into future hopes wishes and aspirations.
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
- Napoleon Hill
Every moment of your life is infinitely creative
and the Universe is endlessly bountiful.
Just put forth a clear enough request and
everything your heart desires must come to you." - Shakti Gawain
"Anything that you can imagine is yours to be or do or have. As you ask yourself why you want it, the essence of your desire is activated, and the Universe begins to bring it to you. The more intense your positive feelings, the faster it is coming to you.
(It is as easy to create a castle as a button.)"
- Abraham-Hicks –
"Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attraction."
- Albert Einstein
"Since everything is but an apparition,
Perfect in being what it is,
Having nothing to do with good and bad,
Acceptance or rejection,
You might as well burst out laughing!"
- Longchenpa
