Images & Words # 217 -- Having Summer or Winter Fun

Thanks Sue for your choice of  theme for this week.
Your photo made me long for Summer again but I think that we do get to have some
Winter Fun Here Too.
The I&W below high lights one such moment.

A Brief encounter with a local mammal

"Echidnas, sometimes known as spiny anteaters, belong to the family Tachyglossidae in the monotreme order of egg-laying mammals"

We found  this one wandering from the scrubby verge by the sea across a  road into
the driveway of a house.
There is more scrub at the back of this house and I think the little fellow found a short cut home.

It is always fun for me to encounter some of our local wildlife.
An Echidna though you would never touch, because it is covered with very sharp furry spines and these spines are needle sharp.
Have Fun Wherever You May Be.

Cheers - Milli.

  2. It looks sort of like our porcupines down south. Ours are very people shy, though. Great shot.
