Satsuma Plum Tree Blossoms
Thank Goodness Spring is only a little over a week away here in my own state of South Australia.
Winter has been severe for us softies this year. I know we do not encounter the harsh Winter's of some of our Northern Hemisphere neighbours but all the same I will be happy for those warmer days with vivid blue skies and white fluffy clouds to arrive and bring us out of the coldrums. lol. A new word from me coldrums is a combination of two words cold and doldrums.
Australia's National Floral Emblem Above
The Golden Wattle is also out in all of it's Golden Glory.
Flowering From Late Winter into Spring they always herald the beginning of warmer weather.
In all fairness even before Spring arrives there are a host of gorgeous flowers out and in full colour right now.
Hardenbergia violacea
A wonderful Australian native plant also known as False Sarsaparilla, or Purple Coral Pea.
The Beautiful Geraldton Wax with the most gorgeous small pink waxy flowers.
Now did I mention the beautiful and unique flowers from the native gumtrees?
I know that Spring will be a riot of colour in our gardens but I must admit that this years very wet winter has produced a bumper crop of native beauties which will delight us for a few more weeks to come.
I might say that the weather has caused the Coldrums for some of us but the native beauty found around in the form of
Shrubs, Flowers and Trees have been an absolute treat for those of us looking for colour on a drab grey day.
Remember this song?
Crowded House Weather With You
Walking 'round the room singing Stormy Weather
At 57 Mount Pleasant Street
Now it's the same room but everything's different
You can fight the sleep but not the dream
Things ain't cookin' in my kitchen
Strange affliction wash over me
Julius Caesar and the Roman Empire
Couldn't conquer the blue sky
[ Lyrics fro
There's a small boat made of china
Going nowhere on the mantle piece
Do I lie like a lounge room lizard
Or do I sing like a bird released
Everywhere you go you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go you always take the weather
Everywhere you go you always take the weather with you
Everywhere you go you always take the weather,
Take the weather, the weather with you
