Picture Perfect Double Whammy!

The last Picture Perfect this week in Competition Mode and Heather has given us a double whammy
( thanks Heather lol)
I have chosen a phrase for my Black and White photo..

" Ten Green Bottles Hanging On A Wall "

Or I Should say

" Ten Black Bottles Hanging On A Wall"

I loved this photo when I took it some time ago and I love this theme too!

  1. A little bit about phrases here..

Take a simple example like Ten green bottles. Most people would recognize this phrase as
the title of an old song and would probably say it quickly and without any hesitation. As they
did so, they probably would not notice that the pronunciation of ten and green changes
because of the contact each has with adjacent words.

  4. Wonderful shot, Milli. I'd love to see something like this in real life. You kind of wonder "why is this here in the first place?" Is it kind of a wind chime affair?

  6. I like it very much - of course I might point out that although I thought I knew every song ini the English language, I never heard of "10 green bottles." Must have never made it across the ocean. Oh, we do have one called "99 bottles of beer on the wall, there's 99 bottles of beer; if one of those bottles should happen to fall there'd be 98 bottles of beer on the wall".....etc. (It's a good song for long car trips.) Interesting that we have to take the word of the photographer that concerning the color of the bottles... That adds an additional dimension to the shot.

And finally, was I the only one who, after reading the caption of the photo found themselves actually counting the number of bottles? (After all, the bottles might not be green, right? So, there might not really be 10 of them either.)

All in all, love the shot, Milli.

  8. Hi Amalie not at all. It was one of my stock photos but when signing it I used Milli instead of my own name.

  9. They are on the wall of a barn not too far from here
and the concept was so simple and yet brilliant it was a perfect shot for the photographer.
Also I thought it was an excellent idea by the person who placed these bottles on an old rendered wall.
    Thanks Zorra.

  12. Thanks Mo..yes the beer version with 99 bottles is and this one with 10 green bottles is more of a children's song lol however just getting some of my friends to count back from ten after a few too many wines would still have the same effect LOL.

  16. speaking of Learning 'Dutch", as far as I know it's not even taught in High Schools here in the states. What a shame. I say that being 100% half-Nederlander and 2nd generation American. But, you know, I've heard that lingisticly, Nederlanderish (Dutch) is the language closest to English out of all the countries in the world, so I think it'd be fun to learn! Not a lot unlike learning Danish, I don't suppose, or maybe Swedish, both of which sound to my ear a lot what I imagine Old English (old Anglo?) to have sounded like. Oh, neat picture Gayle, did I say that already? I'm sorry, I'm delerious with insomnia, as usual. I like it at any rate. Maybe it's because I read music, but there seems to be something musical about it.

  18. Thanks Marol. (Oh, and I'd definitely call it green. It's more stimulating to the imagination.)
