Yes Mia. The groom I have known since he was a small boy. His bride I met before the wedding and I knew about her father being ill.
I took photos on the wedding day and I was wondering why the bag went everywhere with the couple. I asked about the bag and was told the story of Kate's father who wanted so much to give his daughter away on her special day but did not make it. When they told me about the bag's contents, I suggested we take a photo of the bag between the two newly weds as a testament to dad being there in this more unusual fashion. It was heart wrenching but it was also a very special photo too. Everyone at the wedding knew in their heart that Kate's dad was at this wedding, not only as ashes but in spirit too.

This is such a touching expression of your love for your father. Even if he couldn't be there in flesh, I'm sure he didn't miss your wedding.

ReplyDeletelove this, ms. mills. thanks for sharing.
that's so sad but at the same time I am sure he was there, not just in ashes but in spirit too
ReplyDeleteSuch bittersweet memories as these... What can I say? As Deity said, there are no words.
ReplyDeleteOh that is so touching. My friend and her husband were married on Halloween at sunset, because it is thought that that was when the veils between the two worlds is the thinnest thus allowing their deceased family members to attend the wedding. For my friend it was her mom who had passed on, and the groom's favorite uncle, plus they both had lost grandparents and other relatives.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting mine :-)
