Destiny of the Troll
Dark and tormenting was this day, as my young life realised
Next to a newly opened flower
This!
My mothers worst night mare and the devils chance to empower.
As I a changeling exchanged, and left in a flurry of activity at the garden gate
Nine months after the devil wove his spell and my future was conceived with such venomous hate
Paramount was his need for small sacrifice and to weave a shroud of deception
Knowing full well that this infants fate had been planned from early conception.
A tantalising thought when the devil plans a future for his seed
To take a human form is a virtue for fairies, elves and trolls, indeed.
Did he know how quickly and with such sincere delight?
I would engage the pastor and his wife, with my unique and thoughtful insight.
The Devil in all his need for power and control
Under estimated my need to be a loving human being,
Not! a devilish old Troll.

How can such a delightful flower harbour something not equally good.
ReplyDeleteThe Devil is symbolic. Made for those with heads of wood.
None other than Angels sing, at the thought of your desire.
Worry not my fair one, whose heart you set on fire.
They too are good.
LOL thanks Dear Bill, this is a little whimsy of mine actually and was written to go with illustrations for a children's book, however I have changed some of it here for this little challenge and sincerely hope that I have not disappointed. The folklore of trolls or more so Changelings can be gleaned more freely for interpretation from this link here.

ReplyDeleteThat's kinda scary. Gave me goosebumps, eh.
ReplyDeleteI love it. Has a mixture of darkness and whimsy. Reminds me that ultimately we, not "fate", make our own choices.
ReplyDeleteDevilish delight.
ReplyDeleteIronically I am listening (Book on Tape) to the third installment of Deen Koontz Frankenstein series in which one of the central characters is a troll. He provides some serious comedy relief, but he can be a mean old troll when it suits him.
ReplyDeleteThis was a great read ... I found it amusing.
