Sunday Nights Sunset, Natural Delights and Some Frights.

Incorporating

Images & Words Theme. Heavenly

Into my post here this week.

Driving home from work tonight and I detoured the moment I noticed the colour of the hills south of me. They had turned a pinkish brown and the sky above was illuminating through strands of beautiful pink sheets of light. So I did what comes natural for me these days and headed toward the coast. The photo below was the first photo I took from my vantage point above the high cliff top. There was magic in the air and I was not the only one feeling this way. Other people had stopped what they were doing and were also standing with me now on the cliff top. One woman commented that she just had to stop for such a spectacular sunset and I agreed whole heartedly with her.

When I  arrived home and was uploading my photos, I happened to glance across at a little folder I have on my desk with different quotes for every day of the year also accompanied by a small photo. The wisdom in the quote before my eyes tonight is now sitting on my photo above for you to read. Even if I had searched for a quote purposefully I  could not have found a more appropriate or more perfect explanation to place with this photo. It fitted the enchanting experience which nature provided for many of us tonight exceptionally well. As we stood for about fifteen minutes totally engrossed in this display of pure splendour, the sun dropped completely and the crescent moon peeped through the rain clouds above the sea. And just as the colour began to fade into night, the rain clouds opened up and cooled my excitement down, with a delicious jolt back into reality I was now wet but happy, for my continued trip home.

I know some of you read about our small earth quake on Friday night and just to add a bit more spice to our amazing weather and goings on down here lately, last night around midnight whilst I was in dreamland bliss, a loud and very prolonged clap of thunder rumbled through the quiet of a balmy night. This was one of the loudest roars of thunder I have ever heard. Today I found out that some people had their power boards trip with the clap and rumble of the thunder or maybe, it was from the lightening that I personally did not see. In fact this was the only clap of thunder as the system passed above. One neighbour of my mother's actually had the whole power board blow due to this electrical pressure. We seem to be having very tropical weather here at the moment. Maybe that is why the spectacular Sunsets are here too.

Wishing everyone a great week ahead .

Cheers from Milli.

  11. Gorgeous photos! Really awesome and what a wonderful experience you had viewing this sunset :-)

A few months ago we had lightening strike VERY close to our house, I mean like almost on top of us. We heard the storm coming and had turned off all of our computers. My son was playing video games using a wireless controller, and when the lightning hit he actually saw ball lightning come out of an outlet! We checked everything and couldn't find any damage, and I didn't hear of the lightning striking anything in our neighborhood, so I'm not sure what it hit only that it was very VERY close!

  22. I keep replaying the whole experience in my mind Amy because it was so perfect. I think it is all about going with your instincts because had I not detoured back my chances of capturing and being there in the moment would have been non existent. Nature does not wait.
The Thunder was so freaky, well for us here it was. Sounds like you had too close an encounter yourselves. How scary for your son and that is why I don't use my PC or mobile phone in a storm if I can help it.
