The air required at NTP is many times greater than the area of the entrance. The internal suction begins yards away from the entrance compressing the air ready for release. Following the law, PV=MRT it creates the water droplets seen in the picture. The vibration arising from that action exceeds 200 decibels. Yes Milli that's sound for sure. lol One could say "pure sound"?
Oh! I forgot. Milli usually gives two for the price of one but this time it is nearly three. She has just squeezed in the sound source to leave the majority of space for the recipients of sound. You can almost imagine sound being poured onto the vista below, but take a second view. Look at the intake of the jet and its rim, now shift the eyes onto the shore line. The previous visual message held by the brain is making a ring around the ground. Sound, Movement and Vision is the sum total of one picture. Yes Milli it is worth a thousand words.
Fantastic photo Milli! And I've enjoyed reading all the techno explanations to go with it, in the comments. My ex from years back used to be in a band, named after the elements of the jet process... "Suck, Squeeze, Bang & Blow". :)
Very good - an excellent example of the image of sound.

A sound that seems diluted in the vastness of the sky...

Thank you Bill for the explanation.
ReplyDeleteI knew I was filming sound here and you have given me the proof with science backup.
yes Bill, and at the low altitude and low airspeed this was shot at , over water, the moisture compression would definitely be evident..
