Proud he be
Unspoken looks
You see
Eighty two

This Chrysler PT
Uncles new car
unexpected
by far
he says
"it pays
to have
it will save"
and is his rave
In ten years hence
His drivers license
They might dispense.
Good going Unc'
You are quite a spunk!
Miili 08
PS. Unc' stands under five feet and has seen sadness in his life. He has beaten cancer and had to give up his beloved beer when diagnosed with diabetes. He has always wanted one of these cars and gifted this one in the photo above, to himself. I kid you not I over heard him say that he now has the car that he always wanted and that it should last him for the next ten years. When he will then decide if he wants to drive any more.
Or
Unless circumstances decide other wise.
How is that for determination?
Click here if you want to read about these cars.

Thank Pla gives one a sense of more to come when you hear a story like this. '.“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans”. Thanks JL.
ReplyDeleteso.....theres actually someone shorter than our Milli???
ReplyDeletedidnt think it possible....lmao.......
Milli, this is superb!! Just loved it.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteGood gracious Peter... I am a least a foot taller than Unc and maybe even more LOL
So glad that you enjoyed Shail we really do need some feel good happenings here too!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to look at him with the car he wants!! He is really a character!! By the way, in my country, there are lots of short people, those less than 5 feet tall....LOL...I am blessed to stand about 5 ft 2 inches...in American standard, still small, but not among my fellowmen....LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina, so true. Height is an amazing thing around the world. I am sure that your stature there at 2 foot two makes you quite tall indeed. In heels maybe taller?
ReplyDeleteDear old Unc came from Cornish mining stock and they were quite short people.
The miners were small people and their homes often reflected this shortness in both ceiling height and doorway height.
We are similar here to the USA. Many different shapes and sized people.
Thanks so much for the visit.
Best wishes to Unc' I bought my last new car four years ago and am OK until 90 years for insurance.
ReplyDeleteI won't give up though even if I have to use a motor bike or scooter.
Trouble today are the youngsters driving, mad or cautious. don't know their right from left while the school run generates geriatric athletes as we jump out of their way.
That's why we are so good at the Para' Olympics. lol
What a good motoring experience? Chose the old un's every time, well most of the time. lol
I enjoyed driving one I rented last year but at 6-2 it was tight getting in..
ReplyDeletegreat shot ...neveer seen one with the steering wheel on the WRONG side
Your uncle may be short on height but he surely is 'tall' on his heart...Lovely shot...Great niece you are! God bless your Uncle...God bless You...
ReplyDeleteHi Bill I guessed that you would be up there with the best of 'em too because you also have that determination and tenacity about you
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of insurance each and every insurance company rep did a double take and asked for unc's age to be repeated while his son made enquiries for the insurance on the car. No problems he got his insurance too. Unspoken looks as well LOL..
To be experienced....

LOL Dana I will assure you down here it is the done thing for that side of the car to have the steering wheel LOL. Was there a good seat adjustment for your height? Believe it or not Uncles son is your height too and he said he also enjoyed driving it around while he was back in town.
ReplyDeleteCorrect Belita. Thanks so much.

ReplyDeleteWhat a remarkable person ... enjoyed the post. Prsons like him are an inspiration to the reast of us.
ReplyDeleteAn enjoyable read, Mill. All Hail to your uncle!
ReplyDeleteA story within a storied rhyme. Like becoming part of his joy. This was nice.
ReplyDeleteMilli, the eyes always see ... and know. Thanks for coming by. 8=)
Oh Milli a wonderful story, he has good taste...this is the kind of car my dad got when he had the money. He can't drive it now, so I do so for him. I still tease him that he said he would never let me drive it I am like ummmmm Daddy never say never lol
ReplyDeleteThis is deeply touching and I can tell it was emotive for you to write this milli. He is a wonderful person as you portray him to be and the words pretty much speak for themselves. Humanistic it is and yet there lies a certain romanticism here by you which seeps through this writing; I sense it touched you in writing this piece and yes ... what a great guy he is!
ReplyDeleteSimply lovely :)
~F~
Your uncle deserves that car and it is a beauty. His best sparkle in his eye is having a loving niece like Milli Musings. Three
ReplyDeleteI love to see those who are older that ignore the many messages that we deliver as a society about what "old people" should be like, and insist on living life on their terms. Treasure your uncle, he is showing you the way to go..(smile)

Hahahaha! It kinda looks like an old timer, too!
ReplyDeleteWow , what a man Milli and what a perfect verse in his honor..yes I'd love to be like him, really!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem Milli, and the PT Cruiser is a really cool car. Nearly bought one instead of the Jag.
ReplyDeleteHas he seen your poem? I'm sure he'd be delighted to be immortalized in verse. Sweetly done.
ReplyDeleteI came in here a while ago, guess my scattered brain thought I said something but actually didnt.
ReplyDeleteI hope your uncle reads this. Yes, he does have spunk but I am guessing he always did, they say people who are short make up for it other ways.. spunk being one of them.(You know why I know that ;) )
Thanks for all the wondeful comments here they do the heart a good deed..hugs from Milli.
ReplyDelete13/07/2012 Aged 86 years Uncle has now gone to the main highway in the sky.
ReplyDeleteRIP Uncle Lisle.
You Will Be Sadly Missed. xoxo
Post Script
Unfortunately!!
The Brilliant Blue PT
Did not last as long as he
Into a Ditch went She
Driver was fine as could be
Chrysler PT
Beyond Repair
So uncle chose a smaller car
That
From the drivers seat
And over the steering wheel
He had clear vision
And the Road Ahead
He Could SEE!!
RIP Uncle Lisle 13/07/12
Loved this blog. So sorry to hear he has gone.
