Picture Perfect: Summertime Fun

 

What do we do in the sunshine on a hot sunny day here in  January, Well we attempt to ride a cow in the locally held Cow Race.

This is by no means an easy task and if you can manage to stay atop then the next problem is to get the stubborn cow to actually mooooove!

I did a slide show for this event and I am including it here for those who have never seen anything like it before, to view.

    Cows are lazy by nature, but it sure looks like it's fun, young or old ... Newspaper fronts are cute! Like to see ya ride a brama for 8 seconds though 8=) Cool entry Milli!!

    the music is great here
    in south india a place called madurai and further south of madurai in tamil nadu we have a fun called "jalli kattu" bull taming not killing game, a skill game by the villagers as good as matador of spain were unfortunately the bull is being poked with spears.
    this cow race seems to look like fun
    thanks for sharing this and besides january is summer for you
    it is winter for us, and it is summer time for us exactly now and today it has touched 106 at chennai city

    I did write about this before when i did an earlier posting using the slide show.
    The cow is bid on at auction and is only yours for the duration of the races.
    The young lady on the top of the cow is part of the family she was the jockey and stayed on so very well through out. In fact the best photo of the day could not be taken by myself because my battery went flat at the time when she was almost sliding over the cows head and was promptly slid back again by the urgers either side. The other three who are called cow urgers have the job of trying to urge the cow to the finish line. The team effort did present them all and Lilly the cow with 2nd place.
    Great Summer fun and held annually a a fun raiser.
    I also could have picked so many photos for this theme because i did a lot of clicking this last Summer with my new Camera.

    That looks good - they look like Holstein cows but am not sure. My friend has a farm with a few of those, now that would be an idea for the summer days. Great photo and I am sure that everyone had fun.
