Art Sunday: The Unexpected

Crocodile Harry and The Crocs Cave of Wonders.

Unique, Bizarre and Certainly Unexpected Art in the Australian Out Back. See here.

I have written a full post about this place and the artist who has now left this mortal plane. Below is his Desert Garden with flower box of cacti in the old station wagon. The paraphernalia around it had meaning too however I am not sure what it was.

It was on the trip up north that we encountered the Croc Cave.

Yes unexpectedly out of the piles of rock, the first sight was one of un expectant discovery. The artistic creations littered above ground from recycled paraphernalia was only a part of the extraordinary abode of the man himself Crocodile Harry.

Known through out the world this true to life crocodile hunter in his early days was also an extremely talented artist. It seemed his talent for carving and sculpture and making something out of junk was also appreciated by the throngs of visitors he would welcome into his cave.

The cave or dug out as it was in it's beginning housed all manner of creations, some bizarre and some just reflecting this man's passion for the female form. Oh yes his reputation with the ladies went before and after him. His cave was literally scattered with the underwear of his many admirers who would joyfully agree to strip off their under garments and leave them as a souvenir amongst the caps and other items grouped together as mementos of their visit into the unexpected domain of the legendary Crocodile Harry.

Below the late Crocodile Harry next to some of his creations and carvings.

Note below the novelties left for Harry by his guests and also look carefully for more of his creations.

there is a connection here with the zen parable
of this wild strawberry...the monk is hanging by a rootlet on a sheer cliff...above is a big hungry tiger whose tail had been trodden on -below is
splattered future...before wide eyes of our fool
be a wild strawberry.. yes it did taste ye

  11. this post is out of the way, but classic i would not call it eccentric, thanks for sharing and there should be a purpose here, probably when the frequency differs we call it eccentric when not in tune or matched to our understanding.

  12. Wow! Fantastic mind at work there! Artists find a way to create no matter where or how. They can see things before they exist, then make it happen. Wonderful Post, Milli!
