Rita made a Dare to Share and CreArtive Sunday.

Rita made a dare to share something on here that we have made with our own two hands and I am about to share my handiwork right now.

Inside of me is a very creative being who thrives on creative expression no matter what it is. Now all that said and done I used to do so many creative things that I would run out of time trying to fit them all into one day, that's in between work and daily life. These days I love to write and I have become more creative with my photography and my Blogging and I especially love to theme and create on my pc.

A few years ago now my creative urge was to do some decoupage and I booked myself into some courses locally. I saw a lady working on a magnificent painting and even though it was a decoupage it required extra effort because she was building up the picture with a 3D effect. That was her aim. Very Gorgeous! indeed and I asked about the technique. Now I need to make an apology here because even though i did this course and have a stunning plaque as a result of my efforts I can not for the life of me remember the techniques correct title. I know it is a French Name and there might be someone who can refresh me here as to what it is called.

I chose the oval frame and made it to look antique with the crackle effect and many layers of paint in that process. The workshop was a full day one and I had to work reasonably fast to achieve the finished article. I love it personally and the teacher agreed it was a good first effort. She even suggested that it will make a fine heirloom. Well let's see?

My choice of the red roses over flowing from the basket, I felt, fitted the oval frame well. I had to work with modelling clay to shape the flowers out from the flatness of the frame and I also chose those flowers from the paper I was using, to do this enhancement. I am placing  few photos here and hopefully you will get the idea. When the picture was completed it was then time to give it the last clear lacquer and once it was all dry and set I brought it home.

I hope you like it as much as I do and well I think one day I shall try this again. I need to find a teacher first.

Enjoy! Milli.

I have released this post again today as a post for CreArtive Sunday. The tour is run from our Dear Friend Sue's wonderful Hosting Blog.

  1. What a wonderful piece of handi-work. I myself have done this type of work in the past but can not for the life of me remember how now.

If you go to my page you will find the link to the original dare and I know if you leave her a link she would love to see this.

  5. This is truly lovely! Kudos, Mil. It's so wonderful to "make" things, create, and feel you did a job well done, no matter what it is. And Jay is right too in that the final photography is part of the process and the presentation.
