Unto Us a Child is Born

The Evening Star Lights up the hills in the distance.
At this time of the year a farmer has set up lights in the shape of a star, high up on the hill, as he does every year for all around to see.
It is seen at a distance for many miles as the land on the adelaide plains is flat.
The significance of the star as it shines beautifully against the background of the bald, brown, treeless, hills awakens in me the the relevance of Christmas, as it also evokes the reason for this joyous season.
My early memories of the star and the nativity scene that follows, was quite significant as I grew up and attended Sunday School at the local church. The wondrous story of Christ the Savior arriving in a stable amongst all and sundry, always amazed and in a way delighted me. Such a humble beginning for one so Almighty.
I was about 10 and being the tallest girl in the class I was picked to be the Mother of Jesus, Mary, in the school concert at the end of the year.
I remember that I stood by Joseph, a boy from my class, holding the baby doll wrapped in swaddling cloth.
Wearing a white gown, with a light blue shawl placed over my head, I also remember feeling so proud and nervous as the Choir sang out Carols around us. This scene is played out over and over many times near Christmas in schools and churches, but for me at the time it was so special and even though my height got me the role, I was so honoured, even as a young girl to Play the part of Mary.
Many years have passed by and many more Christmas stories have evolved,
in my life and the lives of my family.
The small family unit on that night, in the stable where Mary gave birth to Jesus gives All of God's Children the most Precious Gift of the Season and All Seasons there after.
The gift of Love, Peace Within and Peace to All with Glad Tidings and Joy to the World
Merry Christmas and Love to All.
