Poetry Posse Week 10 DESIRE

Some thing a little different this week for the Poetry Posse theme using the word ~ Desire.

I have taken the poetic licence to rewrite the Lerner and Lowe Classic from Paint Your Wagon Lyrics from the song by : Fredrick Lowe Alan Jay Lerner.

They Call the Wind Mariah.

As you read my version or even sing it can you please substitute the Title into:

'They Call the Word Desire'

Away out here they have a name for lust and greed and power

The lust’s not love, the greed’s unjust and the need for power turns sour

Desire drives the passions round and it sometimes feels like flyin’

Desire can move mountains too, all depends on what your drivin’

Desire ‘ Desire’

Desire ‘ Desire’

They call the word Desire

Before I knew desires name and felt its force a pullin

I had no aim and felt ashamed for not having a go or fer even tryin

But then one day I felt the pull

To leave my losses far behind me

I thought things through and set my goals

And now even Almighty God’s behind me

Desire ‘Desire’

Desire ‘Desire’

They call the word Desire.

The word desire it gives us hope and sends us forth for learnin

With desire and, fierce passion too, we can find what we are searchin

So know your worth and set your sights on what it is you’re seekin’

Because very soon you’ll have what you need, in a good manner of speakin’

Desire ‘Desire’

They call the word Desire.

Desire

Desire ‘Desire’

They Call the Word Desire.

Desire and it will Be.

  2. "But then one day I felt the pull/To leave my losses far behind me/I thought things through and set my goals/And now even Almighty God’s behind me"

I love these cause its true - no one really trips up a Person with a Plan and when you Truly want something from the bottom of your heart, even the Gods ask you "How may I help you?"

And I love these too for the truth in them "So seek your worth and set your sights on what it is you’re seekin’/Because very soon you’ll have what you need, in a good manner of speakin’"
I would have probably said - KNOW instead of SEEK
Loved this for the reminders and inspiration that the words ooze of :). Thank you.

  5. Wow Rashmi it does my heart good to know that you enjoyed my take here. As I wrote I tried to keep the lyric approach happening and maybe a few words could have been different however nothing is set in stone. DESIRE for change and you will have it. It is changed and for the better my Dear Rashmi.
